Return to school: How epraise can help part 1

After many months of working and learning from home, schools in the UK will be returning for all students from the 8th March. There will be all kinds of emotions felt around this time, excitement to catchup with friends again, anxiety about missed learning and some apprehension about returning to the school routine. We thought we’d share a few ideas that may help ease the transition of getting back into the classroom…

Timetables

Timetables will be key in eliminating confusion so that students know in advance exactly where they need to be and ensuring routine for staff and students.

Epraise timetables are displayed directly from your MIS ensuring up to date information without the hassle of duplicating data input.

Seating plans

Helping staff and students to attend safely will be of paramount importance when schools return. Making use of tools like seating plans are not only essential for organising your classroom but also key in tracking where students have recently been seated.

You need a solution that is straightforward for teachers to use in the classroom and also provides access for school leaders to identify key location information quickly at a student or staff level and across the school timetable.

With epraise seating plans, you can display additional information such as student indicators, attendance or assessment grades, so important for helping to identify gaps in learning. Teachers can easily award points or demerits via their plans to help reinforce classroom expectations, which will be important as everyone adapts back to the school routine.

Incident reporting and interventions

With their everyday routines changing again, it is as important as ever to consider student wellbeing and ensure that they have a safe space to ask for help and express themselves.

Whether you’re implementing a platform solely for this purpose or enabling a feature on an existing platform like incident reporting on epraise – it is important that the feature is easy to access and use for both students reporting concerns as well as for staff investigating incidents.

With customisable incident reporting on epraise, students are able to report on issues like bullying or other playground/classroom incidents or request support with homework or any worries they may be experiencing.

The interventions feature enables you to then schedule in a series of extra wellbeing or homework help sessions for a child or group of children with a specific teacher.

Activities

The difference in schools returning this time around will be the return of breakfast and after school clubs and school sports. So, if you are planning clubs and activities or setting up homework or catch-up sessions for students, a system to manage, track and organise these will be essential.

The Activities area on epraise, is an ideal place to set up events such as sports or clubs for students that they or their parents can sign them up to. Managing these activities and awarding points is then made easy by giving you the option to set any activity up as a group – giving access to all the epraise classroom tools that teachers love!

These are just a few features that we think can help - all included in our base subscription. In our next post, we’ll take a look at how our optional features are already helping schools to plan processes such as obtaining test permission and bookings. You can read it now here.
